We have all heard the statement that a man's home is his castle. It is the woman's desire to make this castle into a home fit for her King with her being his Queen.

One of the multiple ways a woman makes a house into a home is through decorating it, spreading good smells throughout the home and the cleanliness of her home. In the older days, she spread reeds all over the floor, placed bouquets of wild flowers around the rooms and used candles to light the multiple rooms. She carried those candles in a holder so she could find her way around the rooms of her castle.

Although we no longer live in castles, we have our special home to decorate, spread good smells throughout and keep our home clean. Today we use candles for a wide variety of reasons. One of those reasons is candles are a good way to create that special feeling inside one's home.

A beautiful wreath, flowers, a silver platter, etc. with a candle in the center makes a beautiful arrangement sitting on one's dining room table. Sconces with votives lit makes a welcome glow to all who enter into your home.

Candles have always been a great source of light throughout the world. Whenever the electricity goes out on a stormy night, there are candles to be lit and set throughout the room. One can carry that candle around the darken rooms as one walks to comfort a child, visit the restroom, play games with the family at the kitchen table or heating tea/coffee water on a gas stove. My family has used candles for all of these purposes. Recently my husband and I played several games of cards by candle light and I used my gas stove to make us some tea. After 2 hours, the electricity came back on and we looked at each other and said how much fun it had been without electricity. Folks, we are in our 60's and we still enjoy each other.
